Rizq is an Arabic word that means wealth, sustenance, provision, good health. The Yoruba's borrowed the word and call it Arisiki. This is what most of us are familiar with and pray for as we navigate through life. However, there are other ways in which this manifests.
This year has been a rollercoaster of events and emotions. In a regular fashion, managing it all together is quite consuming. I would say I had my tough test of adulthood this year and pushed my limit. Took on more risks; made more bets on everything I can think of. Did I regret any? Few but like I wrote in the past; the outcome is not enough to judge. Given the information at my disposal when decisions were being made. I took what was the right course of action and in the month leading to that I’m glad I did
However, conditions are not always permanent. In a lot of scenarios; I was unable to plan for when conditions changed. I am moving from over-planning events of the future to taking them daily. Sorting my priorities based on my immediate and next with less emphasis on the future. Time and time again I've seen that Allah is the best of planners. The past couple of days have been a tough one as well and I’m glad for relationships and community that provides prayer and support. This is why; it is very important that we don’t feel too big in our own self. Be gracious when you win and still grateful when it goes the other way.
As I earlier wrote, Rizq comes in different forms. It comes in the kind of friendship and relationship we have as well. This is why I am grateful to look by my side and know that my worries are little. Among my worries at times is the balance between sharing my troubles with humans and putting them only to Allah. Oftentimes, everyone is dealing with something on their own and I don’t enjoy being a plus to their worries. I am beginning to realize that the answer to one's prayer comes in various forms such as friend's support.
Knowing that you are not alone can be a big relief. The companionship of prayers and someone putting you in mind willing to assist in their own little way is quite enormous. If you have someone that has been there for you this year. Make it memorable for them with an appreciation message or gift today. To everyone that I've been with me this year, I am grateful for you all.
I was just talking with someone a few days ago about the concept of Rizq. Many times we think of it in terms of money, but honestly, friends who are there for you are some of the biggest forms of Rizq there are. Your post reminds me of my friend who gives me free medical advice at any time of the day, whenever I ask. If I had to go to the hospital every time instead, I’ll be spending a fortune. AlhamduliLLah for good friends. May Allah make us good companions to them too, aameen.
