One of the wonders of the world is the power of compounding, it is a phenomenon that can be found in everything we do. It is a patient, intentional step that yields geometric results over a long period of time. This is rather a boring activity as it requires us to keep repeating procedures. Often, as humans, we want to brute force ourselves into getting a result within a short time frame. The implication of this intensity run is that the moment we either achieve our goal or not, we lose the momentum. This can lead to a loss of initial gain.
The ubiquity of social media and faux proximity to people, we would probably not have ever met or interacted with, has become a going concern. More people now mirror their life against other people without knowing their backstories. Everyone wants to have their life fully figured out in their 20s while society's socio-economic strata seem close yet distant. This is leading to people seeking a shortcut to the desired result, enrolling for a masterclass here and there, and finding hacks to everything. Sorry to burst the internet industry of tactics and hacks, growth is a slow painful process.
To use a daily example; people that desired to lose or gain weight sometimes would rather sign up for gyms and actively incorporate intense fitness exercise for a few weeks only to reverse the gains with a one-day break or two. The cause of this is not unfounded, intensity-focused activities are usually less sustainable as much as growing steady. Thus, instead of brute-forcing our way to any goal, we should sit back and play the slow, consistent and proven tactics that can be sustained over long-term gain.
The table in the image above illustrates how growth is when we decide to build one thing at a time on a daily basis.
As we approach this week, ask yourself what long-term goal can you build one stack at a time without wearing yourself out in a short term.
